ABOUT CRYSTAL COVE BEACH COTTAGES, HISTORIC DISTRICT & STATE PARK
What is the Crystal Cove Historic District and Crystal Cove Beach Cottages?
The Crystal Cove Historic District is a 12.3-acre coastal portion of the 2,791-acre Crystal Cove State Park. Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, the Historic District is an enclave of 46 vintage rustic cottages originally built in the 1920’s to 1950’s that are nestled around the mouth of Los Trancos Creek where it meets the Pacific Ocean. The cottages have been restored to their 1935 to 1955 condition and furnished with period-appropriate décor. Crystal Cove Beach Cottages is a subsidiary of Crystal Cove Alliance, the non-profit Cooperating Association and concessionaire benefiting Crystal Cove State Park.
When were the historic cottages built?

Have all the cottages in the Historic District been restored?
Only 22 of the 46 historic cottages have been restored. Dorm-style cottage rooms average approximately $30 per person per night for minimum occupancy. Additional guests are charged $20 per person per night up to the maximum occupancy. For rate and occupancy details, see www.crystalcovebeachcottages.org.

In addition to the rental rate, you will be charged a non-refundable fee of $7.50 upon making your reservation for Crystal Cove Beach Cottages with ReserveAmerica. Your credit card account will be charged for the entire stay when a reservation is made. Once a reservation has been completed, any subsequent changes to the reservation (including transfers) may be subject to applicable service fees. Any applicable taxes and additional guest fees will be charged at check-out.
Are there ADA-accessible cottages available for guests with disabilities?
Cottages #1 and #18 and dorm-style room #38D are designated as ADA-accessible for guests with disabilities. Visitors reserving accessible accommodations must possess a DMV Disabled Placard or license plates issued by DMV (or a similar agency of another state). Please note that the disabled guest must be an occupant of the cottage or dorm-style room for the entire reservation. One designated parking space will be available per accessible cottage.
What are dorm-style cottages?
Cottages #29, #38, and #39 have been designated as dorm-style cottages. These lodgings include individually secured bedrooms that share a common living area, kitchen, patio areas and bathrooms. Like the individual cottages, the dorm-style cottages have been decorated with period colors and furnishings to preserve Crystal Cove’s unique historical ambiance.
For dorm-style rooms, linens and towels will be furnished in a basket upon arrival. Kitchens feature a microwave, refrigerator and disposable plates and utensils. In addition, ADA-accessible cottages include a small cook top. Alcohol possession is prohibited in all dorm-style cottages.
Will I be sharing a room with strangers if I rent a dorm-style room?
Since reservations in dorm-style cottages are made by the room, not by the bed, you will only be sharing the bedroom with the other people in your party. Each bedroom has a separate lock. Some dorm-style rooms have private bathrooms, but in most cases you will be sharing the bathrooms with guests in other dorm-style rooms. All kitchens, common living areas, and patios are shared in dorm-style cottages.
Why am I having difficulty getting a reservation?
The cottages have proven to be extremely popular. Currently, there are only 13 cottage rentals, but to meet the overwhelming demand we eventually hope to restore additional cottages for public use. This will occur as soon as funds for the necessary restorations have been secured. Please note that any difficulty in securing a reservation is due only to the incredible demand for these cottages. All rentals are first-come, first-served. Although the summer and fall months are heavily booked, we do receive cancellations and you may want to check from time to time with ReserveAmerica to see if any cottages have opened up.
