Phase 1 of the Restoration Plan...
included restoration on 22 cottages and was completed in 2006. Thirteen of these are available by reservation for overnight accommodations.  Other cottages were rehabilitated and now serve as the Beachcomber Café, the Park Visitors’ Center, the rotating exhibits facility, the Cultural Center, the Park Interpretive  Store and State Parks housing and operational support.

Total cost for Phase 1 was $14 million, with $9.2 million from Proposition 40, $2.8 million from the California Coastal Commission, and $1 million from the State of California Department of Parks and Recreation.
